Dr. Belvia W. Matthews is a native of Huntsville, AL. She graduated from Columbia Union College (Takoma Park, MD), with a B.S. degree in Psychology. Her Masters’ degree was earned from Alabama A & M University in Counseling. Dr. Belvia W. Matthews received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and a minor in Industrial Psychology from Michigan State University in 1977. The Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology licenses her as a Licensed Psychologist.

Dr. Belvia W. Matthews has professional membership (present/past) in the Alabama Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, Association of Social and Behavioral Scientist, North Alabama Association of Licensed Psychologist, the Association of Black Psychologist, Mental Health Association of Madison County and the American Counseling Association.

Dr. Belvia W. Matthews has been involved in the following civic organizations leadership (Past and Present): North Alabama African American Chamber of Commerce, Women Business Council, Huntsville Madison Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Council, Huntsville Madison Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Economic Development Council, Operation Reachback, Huntsville Area Chapter, North Alabama Coalition for the Homeless, and Oakwood Adventist Academy Board. Dr. Matthews has been past chair and Professor in the Department of Psychology at Oakwood University, Huntsville, Alabama.

Dr. Calvin O. Matthews is a native of Decatur, Alabama. He graduated from Alabama A & M University with a bachelor’s degree in general science and a Masters’ degree in Counseling. He received his doctoral degree in College Counseling with a minor in Psychology from Michigan State University.

Dr. Calvin Matthews is a Vietnam Veteran.  He served in the First Infantry Division as a medic and psychology Specialist.

He has been actively involved with teaching and supervising practicum and internship students on the undergraduate and graduate level. He has been Chair of the Psychology and Educational Counseling Department at Alabama A. & M. University, Normal, Alabama. Dr. Matthews retired from Alabama A & M University after 32 years of service.

Dr. Calvin Matthews is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama. He has membership (present/past) in the following professional associations: Alabama Counseling Association, American Counseling Association, Mental Health Association of Madison County, the Alabama Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, Association of Social and Behavioral Scientist, and the National Educational Association.

Dr. Eva M. Starner earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Alabama A & M University (Alabama) and her doctoral degree in Family Studies from Loma Linda University (California).   Dr. Starner is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. She is a native of Southern California.

She has presented psychological research both nationally and internationally. Her main area of research interest is the family. She regularly contributes to women’s devotional books and she is looking to publish her own book someday. Dr. Starner has an active text ministry whereby she works to encourage others in a daily relationship with God.

She has been teaching for over 30 years in traditional settings and for the last 9 years in the ONLINE arena. She loves Online teaching because you can teach from anywhere in the world where there is internet. She has taught class on five different continents: Africa, Australia, Europe, and North and South America. She enjoys traveling with family and friends.

Dr. Starner is a proud mother and grandmother. When she is not teaching, seeing clients, or traveling, she spends time with family and friends.

Dr. Galley is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, MI.  Dr. Galley is a native of Huntsville, AL. During the past 25 years she has been active in the Huntsville area as a counselor and has worked in a collegiate setting as a full-time faculty member, Chairperson of the Department of Psychological Sciences, and Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences (Oakwood University, Huntsville, AL).  Her practice is open to adults who are facing a variety of life stressors.  It is her goal to assist every client in making healthy choices and successful life changes that contribute to their overall strength and well-being.
